A nation called Venezuela. De Carrera Damas. Published by Monte Avila Editores Latinoamericana. A very well known to researchers of national history. Poses a profound and interesting analysis of our historical process despite being a merely introductory, which originated as a series of talks given at the Hall of the UCV Maga when inaugurated "The Chair Venezuela" in the 70s century XX. He has had numerous issues and re-editions. The latter can be achieved mainly in the branches of the chain "Book of the South." 
Millennium Middle Venezuela. Arturo Uslar Pietri. Published in the latest edition of Books El Nacional. It is a collection of articles, speeches and essays of the great Venezuelan writer and politician of the twentieth century, where plants reflections on the future Venezuela from 1498 until about 1980, hence the title of the work. Provides an extensive selection of work written in this intellectual and sub-divide the text into subject areas to serve as chapters of the book. So you talk about issues such as miscegenation, independence, democracy, education, and of course oil. It is available in almost any bookstore. 
Basic History of Venezuela. José Luis De Salcedo-Bastardo . A classic traditional historical current of the twentieth century, a strong focus on the political and military, with emphasis on the role of the characters and not so much socio-economic forces, is nevertheless a useful book because, as explained in its introduction, the "fundamental" in its title, refers to a study of fundamental lines has had the nation's history, here are analyzed in a very appreciable. Written in clear, neat and elegant, presents an analysis of national history from the eighteenth century to 1969-70, taking into account the leading role of different Venezuelan human generations as the time and took time relevance, displacing earlier, imposing his era, about 30, before being displaced by another. So there is a generation of liberators, another warlord, later the famous 28 and so on.
