[Reespublica] Cuban government press and questions to desist evangelical pastors to worship in their homes

Christian news

CSI (CSW by its acronym in English) has expressed concern about the detention and interrogation of three Protestant pastors by Cuban authorities over the weekend. Pastors are affiliated with the Apostolic Movement, a network of churches that has faced interference by the Cuban government in recent years.

According to CSW, senior officers of state security and Communist Party officials, arrested the pastors Benito Guzman Rodriguez and Barbara, for questioning on Saturday. Pastors were brought to the Palma Street station in Camaguey, where they remained for two hours. Authorities allege that they were interrogated and tried to persuade them to stop holding religious services in their houses.

On Sunday, the head of the Religious Affairs Office of the Provincial Minister of Justice issued an order requiring the submission of two pastors and to prove that the ownership of that home was his, the test had to give it to the Ministry of Justice May 6 today. However, Pastor Rodriguez, 45, has lived in this house all his life. The third pastor is, Bernardo Quesada Solomon was arrested the same day after leaving home. He says that interrogators pressured him and threatened him in an attempt to make him abandon his pastoral work.

A leader of the Apostolic Movement, Pastor Omar Gude Perez is in prison serving a prison sentence of six and a half, while on parole, he told the CSW that the pressure in the network of churches had increased. "This is just one of many times when you have been arrested, fined, or threatened by the Castro regime has not changed at all its policy of denying us freedom of religion, and attacking the Apostolic Movement "he said. Gude

Pastor Pérez, told CSW that several pastors, including his wife Denis Kenya, recently denied permission to leave the country to attend religious conferences abroad and everything will be connected by the Cuban government because its members continue to report to international human rights groups and media, on violations of religious freedom in Cuba. Andrew Johnston, Advocacy Director at CSW, said, "We are deeply concerned about the arbitrary detention and intimidation of pastors Rodriguez, Guzman and Quesada and more widespread hostility to the churches affiliated with the Apostolic Movement, by part of the government.
